Philosophy
Natural Wonders Early Learning Centre is a warm, family orientated Centre that has a homely feel where we strive to be an extension of home.
We believe in the tuakana-teina concept, where children learn from one another, therefore we enable all children the opportunity to be together throughout the day.
We welcome and value contribution from all, believing that the child’s first educators are the parents and whānau and they know their child best. By getting to know each child and their family we provide quality care and experiences at Natural Wonders. We value real partnerships with families, where parents/caregivers are encouraged to be involved in their child’s learning through regular communication, both formal and informal.
Our Centre strives to have respectful, reciprocal relationships that recognise and support our children as individuals and will promote their values, beliefs, languages and cultures of our diverse community of learners and their families. Our Centre recognises the unique place of Maori as Tangata Whenua and the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
The curriculum offered to the children will be based on Te Whāriki; which will assist all of our children to gain a wide variety of experiences in order for them to become confident, capable decision makers and knowledgeable learners and communicators who can work alone and alongside others.
We value the emergent curriculum and individual interests, and children have the opportunity to learn at their own pace which is recognised in each child’s individual portfolio.
Assessment is an integral part of our Programme; where careful observation helps us to understand children as individuals and allows us to support their holistic development and needs. We recognise the importance of a safe secure environment, where children are able to experience a balance of routines, familiar experiences, as well as stimulating challenges.
